Attorney Charlène Marois represented the mother in this custody case involving a 9-week-old child. The father sought shared custody starting at 6 months, but the Court ruled in favor of the mother.
Given that the child was very young and exclusively breastfeeding, the Court believed that at this stage, it was premature and contrary to the child’s needs to remove exclusive parental time from the mother. Therefore, gradual visitation rights were granted to the father until the child reaches 18 months, allowing the mother to breastfeed the child according to their needs.
